About the Department of Sociology

The department of Sociology being one of the oldest and distinguished department of learning has a lineage of strengthening the academic fabric of the Baiswara P.G. College, Lalganj Raebareli. Professor Hajari Singh was the founder Head of the department of Sociology.It has hosted scores of scholars whose contribution has been recognized and acclaimed world over.
The Department is actively engaged in – Tradition, Modernity & Globalization in India; Dimensions of Gender Inequality ; Politics & Society in India; Weaker Sections, Development and Change.
The main research thrusts of department are: Gerentology, Agrarian studies, Development studies, Social Exclusion and Political Sociology,Criminology etc.
